Clever crafting with CleverPatch

We have been busy at home doing all sorts of things and with school holidays coming up I have to find some boredom busters. There's nothing that will make you crazy than to hear "I'm bored!" all day long. You can't go past anything that's crafty for the kids. They love to be imaginative and CleverPatch understands how important it is for a child's development. In short CleverPatch are about craft that helps kids to explore ideas and understand their world. They have an online craft store bursting with soooo many good things that are also inexpensive ready for you to keep those little hands busy with great things. Did I mention it's Free Freight?? Winning!

Since Easter is just around the corner my daughters really got stuck in to making these Easter bunny and Chick decorations. My little 3yr old boy decided to help out with the sticking part as they are self adhesive which makes craft easy. Aren't they so cute? Each project comes with it's own instruction sheet that's easy to understand and follow.

These felt love-hearts took a bit more time to piece together and require some sewing (yay for that!). My 8yr old daughter needed only help with threading the wool into the plastic needle but it was childs play for her finishing and gluing on everything else. I love them and she'll be giving to a few friends at school.

She surprised me while I was cooking dinner the next day with these Felt Mirror Owls. I think they are adorable and they have a hidden mirror in the back. All the crafts are pretty easy to put together and they are not only visually pleasing but also when you have them in your hands they feel great.

We still have one last package that I have stashed away for the holidays. Edited *rolls.eyes* The kids opened up the last package over the weekend. They were drawn to the glittery pens and paint, which required outside the house crafting but ended up with fantastic pieces that's awaiting the paint to dry. Even Daddy got into the action and that's a lot for me to say when he gets involved as he normally does not.

CleverPatch have a wide range of crafts for all the kids to enjoy. You may like their cardboards Sea Animals or the Terracotta Flowerpot. They have a fantastic range of markers and crayon silks. I'm loving the wooden clock making kit too. Pretty much anything you can think of, they got it for you to create. Such an awesome site.

I pretty much want to order everything on the web site. My daughter has chosen the clay items. Don't stress too much about picking the perfect item, whatever you choose it's all about the experience. In CleverPatch words: We're about the doing stuff. So go on and have a browse. You'll be so glad you did.

Blossum and her friends are desperately trying to wake up Koala Claus and it's a lovely jour

Invisible zipper foot - Birch

I thought I might shed some light on the invisible zipper foot. I bought a Birch model from Spotlight and it came in a little plastic bag with four blue shanks and a rolling foot. First I removed the standard foot from my Janome sewing machine (Sewist 521). I realised I still needed to remove the shank, which is the part that is screwed on, and holds the interchangeable feet. So with one hand holding the screwdriver and one hand holding my daughter, who just had to watch, it popped out disappeared somewhere. NO! I was about to kick myself but luckily I found it in the basket underneath my table. Phew. The Birch invisible zipper foot comes with one shank already in place so you know how it's suppose to fit. You have to select the correct shank that fits your machine and slide it onto the foot piece. I just tried each blue part on my machine and made sure it was wide enough to cover the metal leg bit and that I could fit the screw in it's side. Once you find the correct shank sl
